Purpose

This two-day hands-on workshop has been formatted to help those individuals who are just beginning their relationship with Quickbooks Pro accounting software. It is also beneficial to those individuals currently working with Quickbooks Pro who aren't sure if they are using the software to its fullest potential. During the course of two days, we will go through the basic hands-on steps of setting up and operating a construction bookkeeping system, review accounting terminology, and relational database applications. You will learn to set up customers, jobs, vendors, a chart of accounts and the cost codes necessary to track job costs and profitability. You will work with inventory and non-inventory items, adjust journal entries, calculate earned and unearned income, percentages of completion and prepaid expenses, and create financial reports. Time tracking and payroll considerations will also be discussed, along with workers compensation and workplace safety issues. THIS IS A HANDS-ON COMPUTER TRAINING CLASS - STUDENTS ATTENDING MUST POSSESS KEYBOARD AND MOUSE SKILLS. Remember, anyone can attend!

DAY 1: The Basics

Hands-on training will cover the basic steps to set up and operate your construction bookkeeping system using the popular over the counter software QuickBooks Pro. We will begin with reviewing accounting terminology and relational database applications. You will learn to set-up a chart of accounts and cost codes necessary to track job costs and profitability, establish inventory and non-inventory items and set up and work with customers, vendors and employees. The process of expenses vs. job cost and follow up with financial reports.

DAY 2: Advanced

This day will continue with the processes of adjusting journal entries, calculating earned and unearned income, percentage of completion and prepaid expenses entries, using job costing and financial report data for better management forecasting, using inventory for estimating and budgeting, drilling down transactions and working with multiple companies. Time tracking and payroll considerations will also be covered, along with workers comp, workplace safety and business practices.
